About the Post

Author Information

My name is Scott and I like to travel. There I said it, wow that does feel better. There is probably a program for my affliction somewhere. I am what I would consider a Normal Guy. I am a native Arizonan, sometimes we are called “Zonies”. I am in my mid 40′s and enjoy a great life. I am self employed and have a wonderful daughter and Partner. Although I would say my life is a fairly normal one, I am also quite lucky in that I have the ability to travel and enjoy the world, I enjoy learning about other cultures and experiencing the world around us. I want to be right upfront about the type of travel I enjoy and the type I don’t. You will probably not ever read a story of about me backpacking my way through the serengeti during the height of summer, nor will you probably read any stories of me sleeping in the presidential suite of the Ritz Carlton in Paris. I am not a budget traveler, nor am I an uber luxury traveler, I fall somewhere in the middle, where most people fall I believe. I started this blog for the sole purpose of sharing my stories, my views and my excitement for traveling around this world with my friends, family. However it doesn’t stop there for me, I also wanted to make friends with others around the world, those who travel and those who dream of travel. Blogs and Websites evolve over time, mine will no doubt expand over time as well please come back and see what has taken place. However if you have come to my blog to schedule a flight or a hotel, this is not the place.

Travel Adventures, when bad decisions turn worse

I readily admit that I am not a huge Adventure Traveler, I have had a few good adventures though.  Luckily those decision have not ended horribly bad and I have not regretted any of those decisions.  But other people have made decisions that would include some adventures on their vacations, and for those people it has not always ended well.  Below are some random videos of bad decisions turning horribly bad.

I have thought a lot about doing this parasailing in the Caribbean and in Mexico.  I am not terribly afraid of heights, but I am if my feet don’t have something solid to touch, I know that probably sounds weird, but there it is.  As much as I would like to do this, that nagging voice in my head says NO.  After watching this video it seems to me, that voice knows something I don’t.  This young boy, who was like 9 at the time of this ended up with a broken nose, two broken legs and a couple broken ribs.  He eventually recovered just fine and has one heck of a story to tell along with a video.

This is one of my favorite Caribbean islands, St. Marteen.  There are tons of videos regarding this island and it’s airport, Princess Juliana International Airport.  What you are about to see in this video is a young girl who did exactly what your not suppose to do and it turned very bad for her.  Luckily she was not hurt seriously, but you will moan when you watch this.  I have to say that I too have done exactly what these people are doing, and I had a total blast (No pun intended).  I also know how dangerous it is, over the years there have been many people who have died from doing this very thing.  So if you go to the Island and you decided to get behind a 747, then you have been warned.  But wow was it fun.

This is was taken at the Grand Canyon and this poor guy is not the first and I am sure not the last to have done this.  Lucky for him he was not hurt, well not physically I don’t know about his Ego.

This poor girl survived this decision and I am betting she will never do such a thing again.  I can honestly say that this is one thing I will never do, nor do I intend to jump out of a plane, tumbling down to Earth, hoping that I can pull a string and slow down gravity.

Although this video doesn’t show any bad decisions by travelers, it does show perhaps how bad decisions by others may affect those travelers.  Come on, don’t you wonder how your luggage gets treated when your not watching, now you know.

The point of this point is that when on Vacation sometimes we make decisions that we think are cool, exciting and adventurous, then they turn horribly wrong.  As much as I would like to see all of you enjoy those adventures, I worry about you.  Take precautions, learn about what could happen, it’s always best to make a decisions based on knowledge.  Also, ask yourselves do you have insurance for problems that may occur, health insurance that works in other countries or perhaps travel insurance to get you out of a location that is dangerous?  These are things that I look out for every trip I schedule outside of the U.S.

Although I have not had any horrible experiences personally, I have experienced when other people do.  On a hiking trip along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu one of our fellow hikers fell off the trail and broker her foot on the second day of a four day hike.  And sadly there is no way off the trail in that case, except to go forward on a broken foot.

So, be careful out there my friends and have fun.

Happy Travels
